Recreation Worcester Summer Program

“Recreation Worcester is a free summer program for kids ages 7-13 that includes swim safety classes, and instructional activties at 10 of Worcester’s parks. Recreation Worcester takes the place of the former city summer program Wheels to Water & Beyond.

“Recreation Worcester is hoping to get more kids into our parks and keep them active. This program keeps our City’s children healthy, safe, and learning during the summer months,” said Petty. “The Summer Youth Corp is looking to do the same for our young adults. I look forward to watching City employees work side by side with Worcester’s young adults as they gain the professional experience they need to move forward in life.”

June 29 will start the program off with a four-day “Swim Week” at various sites across the city including the Boys & Girls Club, Girls Incorporated, the Jewish Community Center, YMCA Central Branch, YMCA Shore Park, and the YWCA.” DSC_7313_hr

Getting Children Ready for Safe Swimming Season

  • Inexperienced or non-swimmers should wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
  • Parents or guardians of young children should be within an arm’s reach.
  • Children and adults should not engage in breath holding activities.”
