As the country's schools struggle to keep children in school and thriving, the Minority Achievers Program does just that. Almost all the teens involved with the YMCA's Minority Achievers Program graduate high school and get into college. Those are pretty good odds.

The teens involved in the Minority Achievers Program are Worcester students from the 8th to the 12th grades, who possess a variety of scholastic abilities and represent a variety of socioeconomic levels. The program is designed to help these students see and realize his or her potential. “The fact is that 100% of our students will graduate from high school this year. You don't find those numbers in even the wealthiest of suburbs in Massachusetts. We have something special here. These kids have the deck stacked against them and we work hard to make sure that they always come out with a winning hand,” said Amie Cox, Teen Director of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts.
The YMCA of Central Massachusetts Minority Achievers program is funded primarily through corporate sponsorship of the awards gala and through corporate, foundation and individual donations. Over the years, our program has reached more than five hundred high school students, more than 100 Adult Achievers and more than thirty corporations have taken part in this groundbreaking initiative.
